I installed the mace cold air intake on the mrs car and it works pretty good, its a enclosed pod filter.

when i got mine it had a ss inductions over raidiator cai and ive hooked up a yella terra ram air pipe that has helped the vac a bit.

I would have gone the enclosed pod if i didnt already have the otr installed....

    Cheers,
    Ben

the homemade cai is crap! i did it on my vt and did not make a difference in power, you pick up the hot road air and shit loads more dust!!! i had to clean my k&n air filter every 5 thousand k's. you will regret doing it and then you'll have to buy a new air box because you cut a hole in it.

why do an inclosed pod filter? how is that any different to a air box with a filter, it's still only gonna have a small inlet?

lol so true.. people think pods have a larger area thus can suck more.

but they suck the heat off the motor defeeting the purpose of more air, your motor loves cold dense air, hot air is very thin and therefore you need need more to get the same volume into the motor.

If the pod is enclosed in a box it would be no different from a normal filter in the box. but if it has a ram air effect into the box it shouldnt be sucking hot air from the engine.
To add speed, first you must add lightness

    MACE enclosure.

Air is drawn from the cooler positive pressure aree in front of the radiator, behind the headlight, when moving.

MACE enclosure uses a pod as it presents a l;arger surface area than a panel filter. This means more air can be filtered at any given moment, and is therefore less of a hindernace to air entry to the manifold.

Plus - in the VT's theres a filler panel beside the radiator that covers a large air vent hole, cut it away and you have a direct air path into the MACE CAI. I uploaded photo's somewhere....

Beware of anything that sits above the radiator. The operating temp of the radiator is over 87 degrees c, this is a HOT spot. Heating any incoming air is the opposite of intercooling it. Bad. (well - not catastrophic, but is certainly the enemy of performance AND economy).

Cheers some1 who a an enclosed pod and knows what there talking about. would love to see that pictures if you can find it. I was gonna put the FIT type 'S' air box in my VT but your starting to change my mind, im just not a fan of the datsun whistle you get from stock standard pods like those fitted to stock standard VL's

Mate I beg to differ the people that has an OTR CAI next time you go for a drive when you stop pop the bonnet and put your hand into it and see what tempreture it is I can gaurantee that it's not hot why cause it has alot more air rushing over and through it than what it has coming up from underneath and the fact that you are moving forward any air coming up from the radiator will get blown back towards the engine not the CAI.

save your self some money and make your self a home made cai not like the ones above do a search and pick one that you like and go from there.

I just make one up for dads VT SS and it made a huge difference and i cant see that spending a few hundred on a brand one would have made any difference and if it did it wouldnt worth the extra cash by any means. It also looks nearly factory and you have to have a good look to even pick it.
and no i didnt cut any part of the car but the air box.
