Amazing...
Today I decided to get together rear break pads to replace and I had massive issues getting the wheel nuts off they just wouldn't budge... Put some Wd40 on them left it for an hour then tried again and they came off with alot of strength put into it.. finally get the 5 off one wheel and to only find the wheel isnt coming off now??!
It's like it stuck to the car... all 5 nuts off it doesn't budge... at all - any ideas?!!
Kick the sides and bottom reallllly hard
the rim would have rusted onto the hub
when you get it off sand the inner of the rim and the hub clean and coat in grease for ease next time
remember to keep the wheel straight as you can while pulling it off
Sounds like it's stuck due to corrosion/rust or similar. Just give it a whack on the inside of the tyre (i.e. not the rim!) with a rubber mallet or large block of hardwood. Just keep one hand on the outside of the tyre to stop it falling off the studs when it finally does budge.
...but make sure the car doesn't fall off the stand (and onto you) while you're doing this!
if that fails put the wheel nuts on but dont do them up fully tight...nip them up and back of a little put plenty of slippy stuff on and go for a trip round the block...
lol
all you need to do is , put one bolt back in only done up finger tight
then kick/ rock the tyre back and forth till it eventually budges
i have to do tyres at work so yeh this method works
all else fails bust out the sawsall LOL
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
If all else fails make sure the tyre has plenty of air in it and get something like a crow bar with a round flat end and give the bottom of the tyre a good hard whack. make sure you dont hit the rim though lol. the tyre has too have plenty of air so your not hitting against a soft surface that absorbs all your force.
good luck mate
rubber mallet should do the trick, i had it on my vt
All I do to make a wheel loose is hold one side and give the tire a fair whack with my other hand. Usually works for me.
Ahh... So my method is the winner! Haha...
Well done man!
Whenever I've got my wheels off, I put a drop of motor oil on each stud before replacing the wheel, stops the studs from rusting/seizing up. Doesn't help much with getting a seized rim off though!
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
You are on the money SILVERFOX, dob of grease on the studs and a spray of WD40 or similar on the hub to wheel mount face,....................never had any problems!
