hi i've got a couple of quick questions about Catalytic Converters
1 When did they come out on cars
2 do all cars have a cat
3 myth my friend says that catalytic converters did not come out till 2000 and no diesel car has one is this true

To answer the question for those that are too busy to search themselves....

1: The earliest cat was 1973 on a GM vehicle in the US. (I think)

2: All passenger vehicles manufactured in or for use in Australia since 1986 have a cat. Commercial vehicles don't, not all anyway.

3: There are diesels now that have cats, although they are sometimes called purifiers.

there are even trucks which store all the crap in the cat and once every day or two the cat burns ALL of the remaining deisel leaving your exhaust clean (the trucky who showed me rubbed his finger on the inside of the exhaust and it came out clean)
