This might sound like a stupid question, but I recently purchased a new thermostat and gasket for a '98 VT Calais from Repco and noticed that the thermostat also comes with an O-ring but I can't see how it fits in the thermostat housing along with the gasket. Is it necessary?
I played around for about 30 mins trying to "fit" the damn O-ring but in the end gave up and simply dropped the thermostat into the bottom housing (spring side down), placed the gasket over the top of the thermostat, replaced the top housing and bolted it down. Is this correct or will I end up having problems because I didn't fit the O-ring?
TIA
thats all i done mate. the only v6s ive put the o ring in is the vn s1
Thanks for the confirmation. This is the second one I replaced in a few months because the car kept overheating (thought it was a stuck thermostat) and last night I found out it wasn't the thermostat at all but that's another story :-)
Just wondering where the thermostat is positioned on the VT. Mine has recently gone!
just so you know the oring is for the supercharged models only, thats why they sold u a gasket for it as dayco puts the oring in the pack as standard, so if your car isn't supercharged dont fit the oring. btw my brother works for repco and he told me this.
Black Vx S Supercharged
3 inch cat back exhaust, tint
