Default Is it worth getting a tune with these mod's?

Hi all, just wondering if it's worth spending the $900 for a tune now i have a 69mm TB, 70mm MAF, shift kit and a corvette servo, roller rockers. i have all this stuff at home ready to be put on car so is it worth a tune yet with these mod's? the car also has on it a 2.5" twin system and k&n panel filter.

Talk to greenfoam, delcowizard or dr bob. I'm not sure who is best for the VT's. It will sure be a lot less than $900

if that is a bigger aftermarket MAF then yes you will need a tune according to MACE Engineerings website. dont ask me why, i just remeber reading you need one after installing it.

as with the rest im pretty sure no tune is needed.
i have almost same setup as you

    vt v6
pacemakers, hiflow cat 2.5inch catback, OTRCAI, 69mm throttle body(put in this morning ), shift kit stage 2, corvette servo, k and n filter.
i havent had it tuned, really dont wanna get it tuned. i just buy mods that dont require a tune

Add diff gears to the list and then it will yield a small gain with a tune. 3.73:1 at least

Yeah a max of 10rwkw after diff gears and tune. What a tune should acheive is improved economy and a broader spread of power. Peak power is only for a split second before you go to the next gear so it's what's under that point that matters

You're making it hard having the big maf, but apart from that a tune is easy and should give you some good gains, I'll do you a tune for free if you want to bang it back on the dyno and compare the curve to your last run. Just out of interests sake because I don't know how much gain there is on the VT's myself

a twin 2.5" on a n/a 6 are you sure? if so i'd be pointing the finger at that robbing you power... thats o****ill

most people have troubles with larger tb's and shift points so id be getting a tune just for that

I will take you up on that green foam if you want to do mine it it's a vt and has an aunger CAI, K&N panel filter, YT 1.9/1.95 Roller Rockers,2.5" Red back exhaust, Pace maker Headers the 5059 ones.
I would be happy to try your tune to give feed back as long as it wont damage my engine (running to lean) or what not as it sounds like you have not done so much on the vt's. I dont mean this in a bad way at all. Please let me know as I will make a thread to let EVERYONE KNOW HOW GOOD IT IS.
    Cheers Glenn.

Would prefer a stock VT or a exhaust only one just to see how much gains there are on a budget really, surely your's isn't running a stock tune to make 200 rwhp?. I don't think anyone knows alot about the VT tune, me included. I've got some copys of VT tunes from a couple years ago from shops and for sure they didn't know what was going on either :0. But in recent times things are getting better. I think a stock S1 VT can make quite large gains tune only so I'd like to try one of those

yeah it was suppose to be put on the dyno before and after the exhaust, but apparently he ran out of time so he couldnt dyno it before exhaust and just said standard ecotec's make 92-97 rwkw and after the exhaust it read 121rwkw, i dont know how many kw the exhaust made but from reading on here most ecotecs make 118rwkw after exhaust. i would be keen to give your tune a try and then get a dyno chart with just the exhaust.

200hp Nah mate not yet one day I'll have that much power that's my goal.

It was only a suggestion as alot of people have these same mods for there ecotec as does the person that you suggested the tune for just not the headers like mine but he has the larger T/B and MAF.
But it's all right hopefully you find someone to do it for and they or you post up the results
    Would like to see.
    Cheers Glenn.

are you referring to me gc? i have only the exhaust and k&n panel filter installed, 69mm tb 74mm maf, stage 2 shift kit and corvette servo, roller rockers have not been installed yet, i got told to get everything put on at once then get a tune and the trans remapped because of the maf and tb and also the shift kit.

from what ive heard, the standard MAF on the 3.8 is more then enough, unless doing some major serious mods

Yeah mate I was referring to you only cause the thread specifies that you want to put all those on before the tune not sure if you have got in contact with greenfoam through PM to say you would like to try the tune he has to offer.
