Hi all,
A while ago I've cracked the end caps off both sides of my rear screen.
Bottom of the roof rails, end of the black strips, edge of boot...
I've purchased the replacemnt ones and I'm know seeing if anyone outh there has replaced these & can give me a hint on the easy way.
I've been trying to pull the remainder of the broken caps out with long nose pliers.
Not having any luck.
Please someone out there in Just Commodore Land,
give me a hint on what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks
Gareth
I recently replaced mine as one of them had fallen off and the other was catching on the edge of the bootlid when opened. The Holden dealership spare parts people told me this was a common problem on the original VT "corner caps". I'm not sre about VX but i assume they had the same problem. The dealership told me these corner caps were revised for VY with a small protruding bit of plastic added to them (i.e. that goes under the end of the roof strips etc). The old VT ones didn't have this.
It was easy for me as i was replacing the roof strips at the same time (one was dinted and the other faded/cracked) but before i removed my old roof strips, i "trial-fitted" the new revised "VY" corner caps and noticed they wouldn't just slot in underneath the ends of my old VT roof strips. So i'm not sure if these newer revised corner caps are compatible with the "old" roof strips or not. If not perhaps just carefully cut off the protruding bits of plastic with a razor blade then glue the corner caps back on (perhaps ask a windscreen/window glass shop first!).
For anyone you needs them, here are the part numbers (parts bought in Oct 09):
MOULDING (VT black roof strip LHS) 92177032 cost $91.13 + 10% GST
MOULDING (VT black roof strip RHS) 92177033 cost $91.13 + 10% GST
END CAP-RF F/ML (VT rear window corner cap RHS) 92111720 cost $4.75 + 10% GST
(i didn't write down the LHS part number, but it'd be close to the RHS one)
Thanks for That mwb235,
I have slide the roof strips over the windscreen, then i cracked the old remaining parts of the end caps from the moulding.
Then I've just glued the new end caps on.
Pushed it all back together.
Looks good , so I'll know just wait and see how my repairs go.
Thanks again for your input.
