Hey Guys,
Got v6 VT and it has a power steering leak, From what I can see it is leaking from the pinion dust seal and running down. (See Picture Below - Dust Seal Location)
Now the Pinion Dust Seal is loose and I can move it around, Are they supposed to sit over tight and stop any leaks? or is there something else internally which the pinion goes into the rack that will do this?
Anyone dealt with this before?
If there is a oring internally of the pinion that could be stopped leaking with Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak? or do i just need a new Dust Seal over the top to stop it leaking?
Or it is something more inside the actual pinion area?
Cheers
Jason

If this is the pinion seal am I able to disconnect the steering shaft and pull that off, undo the pinion locking nut at the bottom and whatever else is there and remove the pinion? change seal and put all back together?
All whilst still on the car? Im really not wanting to remove from the car...
You pretty much have to remove it from the car, not that hard. Remove the uni joint at the top, the 2 bolts that attach the rack to the k-frame and remove the tie rod ends without adjusting them.
I hear that seal is the most common to go in this rack, but may be wrong on that as only 1 person has told me this. Mine was not leaking from there when i replaced it.
