    Default vt creaky front doors

I have a VT and the front doors creak when opening and closing.
It looks like the pin at the pivot point might have play in it .

    Any ideas

hey i had the same problem and its the little arm with the grooves in it linking the door to body, they become deeper over time, all you have to do is take off door panel and you can reach in undo two or three bolts i think, take it off and get ur grinder and smooth them out a bit.

Agreed; or something similar like silicon spray. Worked for me.

I tried grease and didnt do any good.
I think the pins where it pivots are worn and thats why it clicks/creaks.
I will see if i can get some new ones and try that

I think there is a plastic washer/grommet that goes into the pin which wears down. I flipped the existing one around, which solved the problem for a few months, then started doing it again. Should only cost a couple of bucks from Holden for new ones

Did you try replacing the pin? I am sure the noise is coming from that on mine. I havent had time to look into it as yet though. I cant see the actual check strap making the noise as it sounds like a gripping-then-slipping clunk and the check strap is too smooth to make that sound.

boils down to getting it serviced. when serviced, the door hinges and straps should be lubed!! stop this problem in the long term.

I had this problem with mine, I replaced evertying I could think of around it. The check strap itself, the door striker but the noise continued. Then I noticed one day that the lower bolt was not tight. so I went to tighten it and snapped of the bolt. I took out the top bolt and the check strap fell inside the door. I hear it clunking, around sometimes when I go around a corner now and then. I plan to take the door trim off and try to get a longer bolt through the bottom hole and then will put on two nuts to lock it down. If anyone else finds something that is similar please let me know. or for that matter dissimilar, that fixes it.

and yes I am sick of my door swinging open, and closing on me when I least expect it.
