just wondering if anyone know's if my auto should be ticking when i switch the ignition on. if turn ignition on and dont start it is sounds like theres a blinker in there. not sure if its ment to do it or not cause when i had standard ecotec in it i never herd it. is it normal or something needs replacing???? and what could it be if it dose need replacing.
any help/info would be appreciated , thanks
i have the same auto in my s/c vt no ticking though im not even sure where to begin with what it could be but it aint normal best bet is to take it to a transmission place and have it look atgood luck
yeah its got me stuffed what it is too, take's about 10seconds after ignition is on then it starts, almost sounds like its a little pump, has a slight squeek to it as it ticks
Starter motor/ solenoid will be the cause of the noise. Either the starter relay is intermittent and engaging/ disengaging the starter solenoid or the solenoid is getting power but not functioning correctly.
VYII Calais L67
do you know what the likely cause would be ??? cause it wont start unless i bridge the diognosis teminals or starter relay teminals either.
i've just put the motor, box ,ecu, wiring, in my car. used to be standard ecotec up upgraded to l67, but gee is it doing my head in now. had the ecu and bcm linked, but thinking he didnt do it right(did it with old ecotec chip in the s/c ecu)but have changed it to s/c chip now and not sure if its worth paying agiain to get it linked again. the self diognosis thing wont work either, dosnt even flash to say its clear, light just stays on till i start the car then go's off...
if i remove the (auto trans fues) it stops the ticking.
took out the starter relay and it didnt stop it.
im over it
Yep my L67 does it too, has done ever since i bought it. Thanks for starting this thread it's reassuring (to me at least) that i'm not the only one with this annoying little issue!
Hehe that's the same conclusion i came to over 12 months ago after no mechanic / auto elec / transmission shop would believe i had a "problem" (except perhaps in my mind!)
myne does it aswell... think its the overdrive solenoid after putting it on a hoist.. only does it sometimes but yeah done it with the first trans and a replacement
did you put your motor in a standard/non s/c vt, or was it all factory????

i completely zoned out on whatever you just said lol
but myne is a factory supercharged 6.. always ticked intermintantly,, replacement trans was out of a vy.. done the same thing
i wouldnt worry
thats good to know- thanks guy's.
lol, as for zoning out thats understandable, sorry-it dont really make a whole lot of sense .
but i've just put the s/c motor, box, wiring and ecu in my car which was orig' a standard ecotec ,
but a few wire's from the 3 plugs (above the brake booster area) arn't matching up ,the colours arnt right and a one's are going no where(into empty socket), and are having a few issues with it all. mainly it wont turn over with out bridging the self diognosis terminals, and the diognosis itself wont work(no flashing at all), but auto elec guy didnt have a clue or want to have a go at fixing it. i just cant find an answer as to why it happening... apart from that its great, lol, im just about ready to take s/c motor out and put old ecotec back in.

if anyone's good with electrical/wiring on the vt's please help, if not looks like i mayb going to holden![]()
Mine's completely stock s/c V6 (only LPG added, everything else mechanical 100% stock) and it makes this noise, so don't stress you've probably done the conversion correctly & got everything in right.
It's just some unknown fault, probably a bloody $5 part. Bugger me if i know what it is.
cheers mate, i'm all sweet about the auto ticking, seem everyone's dose it, (that problems sorted)
just trying to figure out why it wont crank over normally, i have to either bridge terminals on starter realy or bridge the self diognosis teminals(then runs fine),
i had alook at the wiring connectors near brake booster and there's a couple of colours not matching up and the two wires arnt going into anything.
from what the gregory's manual electrical diagram says - one thats going no where is for the starter relay, and the other is for the self diognosis.. (praying thats all it is) as it wont crank, and diognosis light(engine light)wont flash any codes when bridged.
hopefully that all makes some sence. guna go have alook at my old motor and wiring and see what i can come up with....... but stoked the auto is all normalcheers
woop's ,sorry repeating myself a bit

ITS ALL GOODchanged the white/blk wire that thought was for diognosis and that fixed the problem with no code's coming up.diognosis works and say's its all clear,
but it wouldnt start still, so earthed out the grey/blue wire(says it's ment to go to starter relay in wiring diagram) and it BLOODY STARTS , by it self,no bridging terminals, just turn the key and it go's. stoked, hopefully thats it and no more hassles, not 100% sure its spot on but seem's ok so far. run's fine.
and just in time for s/c fuel pump and twin 2.5' exhaust to be delivered tomoz![]()
