Default Limp home mode. urgent help needed!!!

    ok heres the story.

on my way home from work driving sensibly along rural roads and came upto a t intersection so i slowed down. looked to my right coz i was turning left and saw a car about 100m down the road and decided to go for it. put my foot about 3/4 on the accelerator, got a bit of power then it seemed to have gone into limp home mode where the car will get home but wont accelerate very fast. i think. i pulled straight over thinking something blew. opened bonnet. nothing apeared disconnected or blown. engine was running fine. not overheating at all.

any bright ideas on the case? please this is urgent.

Feels as if when accelerating the breaks are also applied. Maybe torque converter?

Ok.. after a bit of research i now believe its not limp home mode as i can still travel at 100km/h..
just seems that when it revs over 3500 it slips into neutral and goes no where. just slows down until you take foot off pedal and put it back on. almost certain its something to do with the fuel line.

Just a thought, it's not the 'traction control' playing up?......(de-tunes motor so it's got no guts).

for future reference limp home mode you can still do 100kph its will just have no 4th or overdrive and depending on car no 1st or no 2nd.

Had all gears. traction was what i was thinking because i do accidently leave traction control on a fair bit. and you know, trying to get around a corner quickly upsets it.

I got a simular issue with my VT wagon. Only changing from 2nd to 3rd it seems to go into netural? its like the gear box changes too slow. Also the car will not kick down in any gear? And I have already changed the auto and still doing the same thing???

I'd say yours sounds more like the solenoid problem or something. i just bought nasty dirty fuel and it wore out the pump. whens the last time you change your fuel filter/pump?

    Hi Maxseverity,
I just got the car not long ago and not sure if the fuel pump has been changed at all? I doubt it.
Did your also not kick down into any gears? And did the CPU give you a code for the fuel pump?

i didnt end up checking codes. my car if i did manually change down gears (auto) would either stall or there'd be no acceleration because the fuel pump couldnt push through all the crud built up in the fuel filter.
