i have a vx commodore 3.8 with a 5spd man and some times when i have my foot on the clutch it idles at about 2000 rpm and idea's ?

Also have the same roblem myself.
Most times replacing the IAC will resolve however ive done this and still have the problem.
Atm going under further investigation.

try the sensors on the throttle bodie i dont know what they are called but mine had the same problem and it worked for me
