hey guys iv been having dramas with my vt 1999 wagon v6 , started overheating a month or so ago , since then iv replace thermostat , taken to mechanic he put a recon radiator in iv replaced the heater tap , it keeps loosing coolant iv had a quick look under car and water is dripping from passenger side of transmission and also dripping onto oil filter from above somewhere, my wife has taken car to two places the first one said nothing wrong with car and we had faulty gauges , but then why are we topping the radiator up all the time ? he said see a auto electrician just hoping you guys can please help with any ideas on where my coolant is coming from cheers guys
probably the water pump, leaking onto oil filter and over gear box it isnt the heater core leaking draining down onto the gear box check both see how they are.
the water over the gearbox may be discharge from your A/C drain tubes and nothing more than moisture removed by the A/C when used . the water over the oil filter maybe from the o-ring seal on the heater pipe after time these o-rings do leak and require replacement as rubber swells and contracts until it goes hard and no longer seals the pipe to the outlet .
I had pretty much the same problem Coolant Leaking Turns out it was the water pump gasket and the reason it kept overheating (even on cold days) was because the water pump impeller wasn't working as effectively as it should. Replaced the lot for less than $80 and flushed out the radiator/engine block while I was at it.
Just curious, I have replaced my hoses and I can't remember any 'O' ring seal on the heater hose where it comes off the pump!
hi guys just a quick thanks to all who helped out with this problem , great site . i took car to a mechanic , got radiator flushed out as was full of gunk, coolant replaced new waterpump, a few new clamps , new heater tap as i stuffed the first one and another thermostat .
so now car running well no dramas , thanks for the help
