    Default MAJOR Service

Hey guys, a friend has asked me to help him out with his dishevelled 99 VT Berlina. The thing needs a major service since he hasn't serviced it in 3 years.

As a Supra driver I'm not too knowledgable on Commodores, so apart from the usual oil and fluid flushes, what is recommended for say a 200,000km service?

Owner's manual and log books are out of the question. I'm looking at it this weekend so if there's anything I should be mindful of or check out as a common fault I'd be really appreciative to hear it.

    Cheers.

I'd say Do the service see how it runs after.
    Oil/ Air/ Fuel filter
    Plugs
    Leads (Maybe)
Coolant Flush would be a Must
Break Fluid Flush would be a Must
The Pads and Rotors would probably be on their last legs too
The Head Gasket would be on it's last legs too
If it has air con (If it's still running) it probably needs a re-gas

All this (apart from the air con) you can do yourself.

    Hey man,

Depending how much work you want to do and how much you want to spend, i would also look at doing

    Transmission flush + oil
    Diff flush + oil
    Power Steering flush + refill
Thermostat Change (Considering the cost you should always change the thermostat + gaskets when changing the coolant).

Also have a look at the thread of "VT/VX Error Codes". Might be worth testing to see what the ECU picks up as broken. Might need to change the O2 sensors, plus a few others.

    Best of luck.

^^ all these! With no service in 3 YEARS, everything needs changing. wouldnt worry about head gasket unless there are definite signs it needs looking at, but most definitely all filters, fluids, plugs and pads. you didnt mention whether its been on the road or just sitting there. it's it's been sitting there, you are going to have other issues to contend with- draining old fuel, siezed wheel bearings, damaged tires etc.
