here go's
i've just put the l67 motor in my vt and it don't seem to have much more gut's than my old stock ecotec with extractors/2.5' cat back exhaust. it's missing a little bit with the slightest bit of throttle and sort of/sometimes surges at full throttle. and if try hard enough and back off the throttle (almost no throttle) while coasting/cruising can get it to jerk around and cut out heaps, so hoping thats got to do with the same problem as it lacking in power.
i've changed plugs,
try'd different leeds, (one at a time thou, but didnt change 'slight throttle' missing)
new fuel filter,
new air filter,
got the factory supercharged fuel pump,
swap't coils+dfi thing under them,
swapt maf,
put the more expensive injector cleaner thru it
no vac leaks (cant find any anyway)
by pass is opening and shutting
get's constent 6psi boost ok,
were told to take off vac line of fuel reg and see if petrols coming out(not sure if that mean's its working or not or just to see if its leaking) but theres no fuel coming out of it. and not sure how ya can test them properly ?
trouble code's are all clear
no knocks, no blow by at all, no smoke, motor sounds fine. 115,000k's, l67 factory exhaust
really really got me stuffed now, nothing i've changed has improved it in the slightest there's not alot more that i can think of that could be wrong with it, mayb block't cat, or fuel reg is stuffed, but hoping someone might know of something else it could be or what to check, clean or swap. or how to test fuel reg.
???????????????????
probably a silly question but you did change the ecu as well didnt you
yeah, i got motor, box, ecu, wiring , fuel pump, exhaust
check it has a supercharged tune in the ecu apart from that some new plugs and leads and maybe check the fuel pump is fitted correctly could be sucking air
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable

thanks,
@delco wizzard, got the correct chip, new plugs already and changed 1 lead at a time and didnt make any difference. fuel pump i just changed yesterday from ecotec 1 to super ch'd one and didnt change anything either. ( ectoec ran fine when had it in)
also are you the one that programs custom chip's??????????????? if u are i wouldnt mind getting one of you.
one other little thing--- just checked vac line's again again and feel's like there is 3 vac outlets on the boost control solinoid thing??(not the pod thing that controls bypass valve, the bit with wire's going into it) but i only have two hose's on it. seems to have 2 vac outlets on one side and 1 on the other. not 100% sure there is 3 cause i cant see it properly ,just feels like there is
just took it off and it dose have 3 outlets on the solinoid. now just dont know whats ment to be on there or where its ment to go???????????? and cant find any info on either site. so if anyone knows where its ment to go would be very very appreciated. . thanks
have one vac line coming from charger(where fuel reg vac line comes from) into one side of it-
and the other side that has 2 outlets has 1 going from it into bottom of the bypass pod. and the other one's left open.
when i sold my old vt exec i was looking for a super 6 and found one with a 10psi pulley and a yt cai and it was stuff all difference than my old vt with just an exhaust lucky i bought the ss
unfortunatly im starting to think that myself, that there not that quick to begin with mayb, and that theres nothing causing it to loose power (cause they dont really have any)
thinking about going to test drive a factory super6 and see if theres any difference. starting to wish i did that befor getting the motor.
Ignition trigger module?
This should explain what you need:
The L67 definatly has more guts than a standard 6. The engine needs so little effort to do what the N/A 6 does when being pushed hard. The L67 is a lot more "torquey", so if your not feeling it, there's something wrong.
i didnt feel it just accelerated more freely and pickup a little better but just a cai and 10psi pulley isnt much though
Hi Wana just wondering if you are running the fuel pump controller for it the standard vt dont run one i believe i could be wrong but i have been told only the super 6 has them they are located in the boot behind the carpet near the fuel cap is located ,it sounds like you might not be getting the fuel you need. When i was had to swap my l67 to standard 3.8 one guy thought i was trying to supercharged a normally aspirated engine and said that you will need to run the fuel pump controller and wiring it in not hard to do ,when you put motor i am guessing you swap the engine loom and thats it as the fuel pump controller is wired inton the body loom the runs down to the boot so if you have changed the whole cars wiring loom you should have it but if you only changed the engine loom i am guessing you need the fuel pump controller to increase fuel when it needs it might need to wire one in ill try and find my diagrams and post them let me know if you still need them.

without the fuel pump controller, it will just run flat at at 100%, where as with the controller, the pump only runs at 66% while not on boost, then when it comes on boost ( bypass closes), the PCM commands the controller to run the pump at 100%.
Hey wam well you learn a new thing everyday , why do the standards run at 100% if 66% percent is sufficiant to run l67 , wouldn't that pose a problem just seems weird to me ,it would give her to much fuel then wouldn't it anyway thats sum usual info ill put in my book , i have done a engine swap from l67 to standard ecotec till i get my engine rebuilt and the controller is still in ,i bypassed it and didnt seem to change anything so i went back to running the controller ,i am running same computer just different chip for the standard ecotec would you think that the pcm isnt sending a signal now as the chip has been change to standard ecotec tune .
the supercharged pump has a different flow rate. so turning it down is enough for wehn not boosting.
i'm not running the controller with mine and it works fine.
thanks for the info. i were also told without the fuel pump controller that they just run 100% all the time and should be ok. not sure if it is lacking power or not now as i did a vid of 0-100 and is pretty close to 7sec's, thats with a bit of a slow take off, have to get it rolling a bit first (10-20kph) and then boot it, as i have a broken engine mount. (but the standard ecotec is in the 7sec range too)
it dose still miss a little on the slightest bit of throttle which has got me stuffed as to what it could be, guna try a new manifold gasket next i think.
unless a slight exhaust leak could be the cause of it missing???
Check your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and your MAP(Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor, sometimes these can go and cause you to lose power etc.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
do ya know how to check the TPS?
i swap't the MAF 'mass air flow' sensor and didnt change it at all.
i didnt think they had a MAP sensor??????
Yep the sure do, Typically the L67 motors are just like your Ecotech only with a Supercharger o ntop and stronger engine parts. They screw into your Throttle Body on the other side of your TPS. Unsure on how to check these, but i think the only way is to test with another one, maybe go out to the wreckers where they test them before they are sold and ask to trail one.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
sweet as, thanks
No MAP on L67s unless it's been converted and tuned. I'd say a vac leak somewhere is the issue. The hose going to the top of the boost bypass solenoid on the passenger side of the charger commonly degrades and leaks. All these vac hoses can just be replaced with generic vac hose of the same size if need be. Many of them aren't available through GM spares
