hi people top forum i have a 98 VT v6 it has the normal problem of stalling when hot now yes i have replaced the cas 3 times and the coil pack twice i am now looking at the bcm unit BUT it is a 687 lux now i can find plenty of the low med high bcm units at wreckers but not the lux now my question is is the high and the lux interchangeable
thanks in advance for your help
cheers puca
Swapping BCM's won't help at all. The BCM (Body Control Module) has nothing to do with the engine, it operates things like, central locking, power windows, cruise control, immobiliser. etc. The ECU conrtols the engine management system, but if you change that you will need to have the new one linked to the BCM or it won't start. That means a trip to Holden or someone with the necessary equipment.
My advice would be to first check for fault codes, a search here will tell you how to do that.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
hi accentsencil thanks for your quick reply have checked codes and there are no errors just get the 12 flash i was going the way of bcm module as a m8 had identical drama and after $1500 spent at holden it came down to bcm module i would of put my money on cas as it only does it (stalls ) that is when hot wait 30 seconds and starts again every time but have done the water trick and it wont start straight away now this only started ofter the water pump dropped its guts managed to get it home and after changing pump pretty sure that is when this started and not fuel pump as i can drive car 200 300 kl ms and wont stop as long as car is moving it keeps going when stopped in traffic dead
The BCM's are not interchangeable between levels - you need to replace it with another of the same three-digit code.
If it helps, here is a list of BCM types for VT thru to VY. If this is too small to read (because of this forum's upload file size limit) send me a PM with your email address and i'll email it to you.
(One exception i'm aware of - you can replace a VT Calais series 1 BCM with a VT Calais series 2 BCM - the only difference is you will now have the series 2 remote-operated deadlocking. I did this on my VT series 1 Calais and it works perfectly. Other than BCM i didn't have to change anything else. Of course i had to have the BCM linked to the PCM with Tech2. Because a keyhead came with the series 2 BCM i didn't need to have a new keyhead coded.)
I put a VX Calais bcm into my series 1 VT Calais.
what about interchanging a vt exec to vt calais? and being mine a manual and the calais bcm as auto?
does it have anything to do with the trans at all?
