Hi guys,
I am trying to change the thermostat housing on a mates S/C V6.
Any hints on how to get at it? its very burried at the back (im thinking this is the housing). The throttle body etc all seems to be in the way, and that even looks like a pain to remove!
Any tips?
Intake and throttle body has to come off. Another way would be to also rmover the u bend at the rear of the charger that the throttle body bolts to. Only do this method if the throttle body alone being removed doesn't give enough access. Depends on your tools I guess.

anything thats at the back of those engines will get u swearing lol
Some owners will suggest you just disconnect the fuel lines and unbolt the charger. To me that is a bit over the top as you'll have to clean off old SC to intake manifold gasket and all sorts of messing about.
It was a P.I.T.A the first time I did mine but each time since it hasn't been too bad. My suggestion is to remove the intake pipe and the throttle body which is quite simple and use a ring spanner or a small stubby spanner to get access to the three bolts that hold the U-bend at the back of the charger. Once you get the U-bend off there is plenty of room to get to the thermo housing.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
I just removed the boost vacuum diaphram on the side of the charger and the TB to do mine it still took a while though
