Default Vt cuts out when cranking

Hey i have a 1998 VT commodore sedan and the other night i went to start my car after switching it off to get gas and when i went to restart it i would crank and just cut out after a second. if i left it for a while it gets to a point where it starts and then dies almost immediately. im stuck and don't know what it could be but if it helps none of the buttons on either of the tree remotes that i have unlock or lock the doors or open the boot i am leaning toward it being a body control module but not sure any help would be greatly appreciated.
