sounds like your bcm is a low model and you have to bypass it, in the vt its a green wire with a trace but cant remember which,

    hi

i am also in the process of installing power windows in to my vt, i have bought 4 second hand doors with all the electrics

i was going to put the electric doors and pull out the manual doors and get them resprayed. unfortunately getting sprayed cost a lot. and i am thinking of pulling all the inside bits of the electric doors and installing them in to my existing doors.

    has anyone done this?

    is it easy job?

also what is a BCM and how do i change it or bypass it

any kind help would be appreciated

    cheers

    ok Kalu
i just did my VX 2001
    1. changing the winders over is the easy part. requires removing old winders retained by rivetes and repalcing with your electric ones then reriveting them.
    2. I used door harnesses from a VT in my VX plugs matched no problem
    3. centre console switch from ebay (i had to cut my console bezel so the switch would fit nicely) you could buy the correct part but that extra expense.......(power window bezel)
    4. this was the tricky part i have bybassed by BCM (Body control module) it supposed to control all wonderfull things ie power windows, aerial hieghts(i been told) plus whatever else GMH wanted it to do.
    5. if you aint got the correct BCM for your car your drivers window wont work (will not go down) but it will go up.

    6. you will need the following if you aint got it.

1 x micro relay 5 pin (not 4 pin) 5 pin is a change over relay... from holden $8.00
2 x 4 pin relay from ashdown electrical $12.00 ea
    1 x circuit breaker fuse. 20 amp from ashdown " " $8.00
if you buy from ashdown ensure u ask for the narva style breaker fuse it's the $8.00 one as the other is $40.00

Now the tricky part how i bypassed the bcm you have to ground terminal 1 on the micro relay for it to allow your window to go down. to enable this i used a second relay powered from the centre console switch when held in the down postion it activates my relay which grounds terminal 1 on the micro relay.
    hope that makes sense
if it dosent send me an email and i will explain it better.
now my VX had all the wiring in place in fuse panel etc etc as for your VT i dont know, but if the relay holders are in the fuse panel and under your gear stick bezel is a plug for the power window switch then u might be in luck

from what i can assume on my vx in relation to the pin 1 on the micro relay is it normally earths via the BCM this would give it auto down funtion.... i can live with out auto down

anyway if you have any questions just send me an email to mksavos@hotmail.com and if you wait untill the 18th january when i return to TAFE i will scan a copy of a VT electrics.
Yes i am a TAFE teacher.

I installed power window in to my VT Acclaim and it was easy. One thing to bear in mind is that the door looms changed from series 1 to series 2, series 2 is the same as VX. The part that changed is the plug that connects to the main loom at the body. So providing that the 2 cars are the same series, no problem.
The BCM is the body control module and it controls things like power windows, central locking and many other things. Like I said mine was an Acclaim and the BCM was suitable for power windows. You can change the BCM but you will need the remote that goes with it and you will need to have the BCM linked to the engine computer or it will not start.
