Hi, i have a holden vt 97 model,,,has a new alternator and battry,,but when the car sits for a few hours it wont start,,,but when i jump start it from another car it starts up fine,,i turn it off for a few minutes it starts up fine but doesnt after a few hours.
I have taken the battery to the auto shop for testing,,,was told the battery is fine just needs charging.
I recon you have answered your own problem!..................?
I thought the alternator was suppose to charge the battery while im driving????
Check for loose wiring from your alternator. Check the battery voltage while the car is running. It should sit somewhere between 13 and 15V.
Otherwise its probably bad luck you got a dicky alternator and you'd probably need to get it swapped/replaced.
common Problem with eco tech setups.. is the wire that runs off back that keeps battery charged burne's out!! ... check it...![]()
last shall be first for what its worth I win ~
did you buy a quality battery or the cheapest one sitting on the shelf for 6 months
