ok today i was driving my vt and the msg hot came up on the digital dash and fuel gauge went up on full so i pulled over to let car cool down to check coolant in radiator,i check and water was fine so i assumed it was a stuck or faulty thermostat, so i called racv since i have roadside assistance and when he came he found out the thermo fans wernt going on cause there wasa faulty relay but cause he never had a spare one he bypassed a wire from battery to faulty relay with a peice of wire and fuse andb4 i start the car each time i have to connect the thermo fan on cause its always working and when i park car have to do the same pull the wire off again, has anyone had this experiance???
I'm sorry, mabey I've missed the boat here a bit... But what do you want us to say? You have had a fault. You have a diagnosis. You have a temporary repair.
Sounds to me like all you need to do is go buy said $18 relay and chuck it in. Or failing that, swap it with your horn relay. Probably what should have been done on the side of the road initially, to get you back home.
I don't really know what "experience" you want people to comment on?
Hi there as jak says try swapping the relay with the relay to see if that fixes problem but seems weird why the other wouldn't kick in do you know which one he diagnose as the problem low or high speed . it could be several probs the sensor ,air in the water lines and trick the sensor with steem .one thing you can try is disconnect the plug of the sensor and start the car after 6 sec the low fan will kick in and 12 sec the high speed fan will turn on this will tell you that your wiring is fine and that it is somthing else or it just might need to be bleed. if it is the low speed relay well you cant swap that one as they have 5 pins i think and the high has 4 pins or vice versa but if it the low speed relay you wont be able to swap as it will probably end up stuffing your bcm or pcm and i would run the wire the racv has done for 2 long.
