i am in the process of converting my vt executive to power windows, i was told i need to replace my BCM and thinking of buying a second hand one

my question is where to find the BCM in a VT or A VX?

if i buy a second hand BCM with Vin number, Remote lock in key will it do the job?

    kalu, please check your email.

If replacing your BCM you need another one with the same 3-digit code as the old one. Each of the various BCM's do different things and the pinouts may differ, depending on the luxury level etc. (See my attachment it should help)

The BCM is located above the accelerator/brake pedals, next to where the steering column goes thru the firewall etc. To access it you first remove the black plastic panel above the pedals. From memory the BCM is attached at the top on two lugs - it comes out without too much force. Some of the wiring plugs can be difficult to get out (tight-fitting) or at least mine were.

When changing BCM's you need to have it linked to your car's PCM otherwise the car won't start. Also unless the replacement BCM comes with a matching key (or keys) you'll need new keyheads coded too - this can only be done using Tech2 at a Holden dealership.

Have you considered just keeping your BCM and wiring straight to the drivers door. Everything will work fine, except you wont have auto down, but even then you can go after-market for that. Have a search on the forum there's plenty of threads about how to bypass the BCM to get the drivers door working.

I bypassed the BCM when i installed power windows in mine as it was too much screwing around for just auto down which i can get after-market anyway.

all we did, was we used the factory loom that was under the center console (where the switches will go), used factory door looms, and just hooked it all up. The only thing that didn't work was the drivers door, and the passenger door the switch wiring was the wrong way round, (if i pressed down the window went up and vice versa). So to fix the passenger side problem, we just swapped the up and down wires in the loom, and to fix the drivers door problem, we worked out which wire was the down wire on the switch loom in the center console, cut it, then joined a wire from the switch straight to the same wire on the door loom, completely skipping the BCM, and it worked straight away.

I'm sure this could be explained a lot better, but thats the best way i can explain it lol.

    Hey mate,

If you decide to go with a BCM, give me a PM. I have a good spare Lux BCM from a VT Berlina with a matching keyhead if you are interested.
