    Default VX Auto Headlights

Hey guys, i just noticed yesterday that i have a sensor between my demister covers on the dash pad. After looking on here it seems this is the auto headlights sensor. It seemed to be already wired up, it was still plugged in so i can only assume that its going to the BCM. So what would i need to do to get auto headlights working? Do i just get the headlight switch with the auto function, or is there a lot more involved?

The car is a 2001 VX Exec, not sure if it will make a difference but it is a Police Pack.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Cheers, Jarrod

I could be wrong but I think the auto headlights is control by the BCM, so you will have to upgrade the BCM. That would also give you the auto driver's window down that I read about in your reply to another post.

That sensor is also 4 the central locking so u may only have that wired in atm and not the auto feature coz its an exec, but i could b wrong as my exec has everything ready like other models 2, just needs the BCM 2 match.

Yeah that sensor is your Central Locking remote's sensor as well, i doubt you have the auto headlight wiring installed considering what holden charge for a replacement sensor, it'd be stupid for them to put it in a car that doesn't use it.

If you put the headlights on they will turn off automatically when you turn ignition off and open drivers door .

Body Control Module. It controls many things, like power windows, cruise control, central locking, immobiliser, courtesy lamp delay, heated rear window, air conditioning, boot release and other things depending on model.

You need a high series Hi level BCM for auto lights on and I doubt that you would have one of them.

VT/VX had auto headlights???? I WANT THEM! my VT berlina doesnt, Anyone got any ideas of how much a higher level BCM would cost and what would be involved in the change over? and also anything else that may be required for auto headlights.. might be a fun little project when some cash flows in!

I have a VT Berlina too, i guess i have a mid level BCM? I have power windows, cruise control, central locking, heated rear window, air conditioning, boot release etc and automatic drivers window down, so would that mean I could get auto headlights working on my car?

I guess you would have a mid computer, so if you wanted, theres headlight switches on ebay for $30 with no postage fee. You could buy one of them, put it in and see if it works, i guess it would answer all of our questions lol. I already know the switch does not work with the low level bcm, as i tried a mates switch in my car, but i'm still not sure if the sensor/ and or wiring, is there.

It could be the one for the fog light switch, I'm not sure on the wire colours though.

I asked about an aftermarket product at my local Autobarn but they said they didn't know of one. So they rang another Autobarn & they said the same thing.

But when I read this post, I looked on the Supercheap website, but couldn't find such product (unless it's an instore thing only)

Just went to supercheap and had a look. Not what I was after. It turned the headlights on whn it got dark & off when it's light.

I want headlights to come on when my car is unlocked. I guess I'll just go to Holden and find out from them

that'll b another addition that a BCM would have not sure if its a low mid or high end 1 but the old telstra cars got that option. i wouldnt think they were much more than execs that were used. Tho tried seeing if a tech 2 can unlock the feature?

Yeah pretty sure telstra used execs, my mum was looking at an ex telstra exec wagon. We were going to buy it until she found a much better vt exec wagon for a cheaper price.

Yeah my old man works for Telstra and he had several execs.

Anyone know what BCM the Acclaim has?

If it's not for the fog lights then it is probably the one for the Telstra "lights always on" option.
