    Default vt break caution light

hi guys bought a vt the other month runs great and really happy with it
but i noticed a couple of times when i break real hard the brake caution light comes on for a second or 2 then goes away
the other day i done it then after driving for about ten mins put my foot on the break and my foot nearlly went to the floor felt like it had no fluid or something
i still had breaks but they werent the same
so i pulled over checked my fluid see if could see any leaks under the car and it was all good
then every time i would break the caution light would come on kept on doing it for about a minute then hey presto brakes were back and have been ever since
just wandering if anyone knows what the %$#@s goin on
    cheers

I'm guessing you have 2 separate issues there, not necessarily related to each other...

    1. Your brake pump could be leaking around the seals. I'd take it to the mechanic and get them to check and if necessary replace the seals.

    2. Your park brake switch could be playing up. The brake caution light you're talking about there has nothing to do with your brakes. Its a warning light when you have your park brakes on in case you were tempted to try and drive off with it on. In saying that, might as well get the mechanic to check your park brakes too while they're doing your brakes.

yeah in the handbook it says it is directly for the brakes as a whole
i changed my brake pads today and bled them just in case there was some air in them
now the light doesnt come on at all even when i brake reall hard
so hopefully just needed some love a
if it happens again i got a feeling might be the booster seals

Low brake fluid level caused your warning light. When you brake hard, the fluid in the resevoir rushes to the front chamber and the float in the rear chamber drops onto the contacts, and lights your dash symbol.
The handbrake light, brake fluid level and brake pressure fail warning light is the same light on the dash of most cars.

A brake booster seal/diaphragm leak won't cause this light to illuminate, just a hard brake pedal.

    yeah cheers mate
maybe that was the problem the brake fluid level was spot on but the brake pads were real low maybe when i braked hard it sucked down most of the fluid
