Chrome Door Handles

Looking to put chrome door handles on the exterior of my VX Commodore. Just wondering if I have to buy the whole handle assembly and get it painted, or can I just replace the handle on the current one with the chrome handle bit?

You have to buy the whole assembly... bout $210 all up from memory (from holden).. not painted (the surround)

apparently you can get your current handles 'chromed' but i dunno??

All you have to do is detach the chrome handle from it's backing and use your existing backing.

i tried that on mine but couldnt get the rod out that holded the original ones together

Yeah im told thats incorrect due to the handle being the wrong shape or something.
