What's behind a passenger side airbag if not an airbag?

I'm just wondering what would be behind the panel where the passenger side airbag would be, if I had one. I have a VX 01 Lumina, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a passenger side airbag, so I was wondering if there is much room in behind that panel for me to mount things (iPod, USB, hard drive etc.), and turn that panel into a opening compartment.

theres just a metal bracket...

have to pull the whole dash pad off to get access tho

side or dash?? i think if they are fitted it has SRS written on outside of pillar.

Passenger dash. I guess I should find out for sure if there is an air bag there or not before I go playing around back there, don't wanna accidently set it off lol.

yeah make shure u find out as a frieend of mine has his blow up in his face almost ripped his head off but that was changing the steering wheel so be carefull.

Yeah just make sure you disconnect the battery first.

That's pretty ironic, since airbags are meant to protect your head, not rip them off

I still have a scar on my arm when my airbag went off and scratched it up and they smell like crap.
