just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or clues begin to look for a fix
my drivers window on my vx2 has just started to mark this ugly noise when i try to put the window down.
as the window just begins to move down there is this god-almighty glass type grating sound before it happily rolls down into the door..its got me stuffed as when i look there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it going back up again no issue until the window 'seats' into the frame at the top with a clunk but nothing like the noise on the way down.
just wondering if it is in the door frame itself or a problem with the mechanism
any clues or tips 'grate' fully accepted
cheers

Take the door inner trim panel off and check the four rivets that attach the regulator to the inner door frame. One or more of them may be broken/loose which can cause the noise you describe.
I had a similar problem , The passenger side arm had popped out of the runner. When i wound the window up the arm wound back up to the runnerso when you pull out the door trim it looked like the arm was still attached. So when you take the door trim off make sure you give the arms a bit of a tug to see it they are loose. Have a look at this link , it might help you .Replace Plastic window runners
