    Talking VS V8 Engine into a VT

    Gday all.. I,ve got a v8 engine that came out of a series 2 VS and want to put it into a VT .. is there any problems with doing this, would it bolt up and work.

    physically it should fit, but you might have issues getting it registered. In order to use an older engine than the one released from factory, it has to meet certian epa rules. You'd have to upgrade the engine to include all the extra parts found on the VT V8.

    in which case your better off just buying a vt 5lt.
    i'm also pretty sure that the motor has to be newer than the build date of your specific car. but i could be wrong with that one

    Extract from RTA website:

    Emission standards for replacement engines:
    1972 and later model vehicles with substitute engines must meet the intent of the later of the Australian Design Rules applicable to either:
    a) The original vehicle; or
    b) The substitute engine.

    So, unless your replacement engine has the same or better emission standards than the car's original engine, don't bother.
