quick question about airbox

Hi there just got a few quick questions, last weekend was my birthday and girlfriend got me a pod filter, wasnt even wanting to put it on but not to dissapoint her i chucked it on anyway, when i was removing the top cover of the airbox i noticed on the back of it, it had a plug going into airbox, looks like a sensor of some sort, my questions are, A: Does anyone know what im talking about B: what is it? and C: does it matter that i unplugged it?

It's your intake air temp sensor from the sounds of it.

Just shove it somewhere next to the pod filter in the engine bay.

I believe its called the IAT sensor, measures the temperature of the air entering the motor, and yes you need it. you'll probably find the engine light may now intermittently come on
