    Default RE: ticking noise

I made a thread about this b4.... so recap,

I have a ticking noise coming from the left hand side of my V6 supercharge engine. The sound gets louder and faster with more revs.

Some 1 suggested that mabey its the lifters or an exhaust leak. I belive it may be an exhaust leak.
Because; when i start the car up the ticking noise can be heard when it idles, however when im cruising at X kmph without my foot on the accelerater, RPM at 1,500 there is NO ticking noise.....

    Thoughts people???

    Thxs Aaron

How exactly do you change the exhaust gasket on an Ecotec? I also have pacemaker extractors. I went to Repco and got the gasket recommended by the book. Will this fit the extractors or will it only fit the factory manifold?

Is it simply a matter of unbolt, move pipes aside, fit gasket and rebolt or....

Grab a piece of hose, put one end against your ear and the other end around the exhaust manifold to make sure its definately leaking.

I know how to check for the sound, and I have a automotive stethoscope.

The thing is that I had my engine rebuilt about 3 months ago, and when I got really annoyed with this damn noise, I took it back to him and he said exhaust gasket. He moved the bolts with a little hand sized ring spanner. He told me to take it home and tighten them when the engine cools. I did that but the noise is still there. Now I have been told that after a long period of time with the gasket loose it will most likely destroy the gasket. So I got some new ACL ones from Repco for about $5 each and now I got to fit them.
