Exhaust issue

Hi all,
I have just signed onto this forum and I am after some advice.
I have a 2001 VU SS ute 5.7 lt manual, that I have only just brought, it has a cam upgrade and is fitted with pacemaker extractors and a twin 2 1/2" exhaust system. It has no Cat's fitted, Is this illegal? also it is very loud and pops and cackles when I back off or am just coasting along, I want to make it quieter with out sacrificing performance, I have dyno sheets showing 375Hp at the rear wheels. Any suggetions?

Get some ca ts fitted ASAP. you will notice a big diffrence then. How many Rear mufflers do you have one? or two?

It only has one muffler on each side, will it run better with a balance pipe fitted?
Are there any performance cat's that you can fit?
