whats the sympoms of a buggered throttle pos sensor

hi, again again,
just wondering if anyones had and knows what the symptoms are of a buggered TPS?
also how to test em/clean em if its possible


do these prob's sound like it could be a stuffed tps?

rough idle?, idle- 1500rpm it misses a bit

excessive fuel comsumption? 36ltrs/$50premium gets 220k's putting around town.

confused auto?- eg-staying in 3rd to long when slow down and jolt/bang back into 2nd, and just weird shifting while cruising/coasting/going slow, its fine with full throttle.

weird power?- first half of throttle real real responsive, last half's pretty dead and no real difference in power when boost is at 1-2psi to when its at 6-7psi.

it used to surge when i first put the motor in but stopped now, since it stopped i personally felt that it had lost a bit of power. (thou it still seems to do roughly 7secs 0-100)

i just try'd a second hand TPS from wreckers ($20 for whole throttle body) but he gave me a vs one thinking there the same but there not, i put it in and it was like i had put in a shift kit, would smash into gear and engine check light came on. so have to go change it. will find out in 20mins if it is or isnt the prob.


pablo-- yeah checked fault codes and its all clear, but that bit i read on TPS's said theres a good chance the fault code wont show up unless its completely screwed. (weather its correct or not i don't know, its just what i read)

its def none of the vac hose's leaking as ive replaced all of them.
unless its coming from the lower intake manifold gasket which is one of the only things i havent changed. and is guna suck cause already put on a new gasket between charger and manifold and will prob need another one if take it all off again.

may as well just change the LIM gasket and fuel pressure reg and be done with it. i've changed everything else that i can think of, changed- iradium plugs, fat leads, coil pack, thing under coil pack, charger to manifold gasket, fuel pump, air flow meter, air filter, fuel filter,flushed engine and oil, all new vac lines, TPS, IAC, had cats checked, heads checked with dye stuff, (not much else it could be)- i think.

least its getting one hell of a service will find out sooner or later i guess (hope)

lol, yeah ed its starting to give me the shits, should have just keep't the ecotec with the sc14 supercharger on it. they do alright the sc14's
