I pulled apart my filter box to check what condition my filter is in and found there's a wire running to it. I was thinking about just replacing the whole thing with a pod filter due to its pricing (filter for box = $40, pod filter=$20). But now im not so sure as I dont know what that wire does? It seems to just lead to nowhere but then its hooked up to some other shit so i thought it could be for either monitoring air flow or running tests at the holden factory.
Any help here on what that wire does, and what other people have done in regards to pod filters on VX's?
Cheers!
Mick
pod filters are cheap poo... well thats my opinion

it might be for air flow computer crap just pull it out and see if she still runs. but yeah pod filters are just bloody noisey i dont like them anymore
I didn't mind the sound of the pod on my VP. But i felt it didn't do a thing in performance. One day i was driving along and the silly thing fell off, How i don't know?, But the car started to go ok (giving me the impression it was working) but that wasn't the case..

yeah dont get me wrong im not all for them but theyre cheaper and thats what i need right now haha. I don't really care a whole lot for what noise or whatever they make, but yeah anyone know what that thing actually does?
A standard GM Filter from holden is about $15. Have you got a Pic of this wire you are talking about?
correct me if im wrong but i believe the wires are for the air temp sensor if you pull it out the car wont start!

why would you remove a cold air intake? most people want one
hay mate i did a lot of reasearch (its my first car so wanted the best out of it) about the air flow form a cai to a pannel filter and pod filter and i have to say hands down no contest pannel filters and cai win preformence wise and fuel eco wise hopes this help you out mate
cheers matty
Cheers guys I'll take a photo but If anyone can tell me where I can get those filters for cheaper than pod filters I'll gladly take one over the pod.
Should be able to get one from ebay pretty cheaply.
Also check out some of special power chips. $19.99 and they increase power and economy.... im gonna save up and fit 2 for more powarrrr.
Hey man the wire is an air temp intake sensor, the car will run fine without it, i think it just makes the computer think its running at default temperature, pretty sure its 21c. You want to leave it in but, i just stuck mine underneath the pod filter, helps the car run a bit better on hotter days. Just rip it out of the air box, it will come straight out, just poke that little metal ring off with a screw driver. Supercheap sell the 'SCA' brand of pod filter for about $20 each, had a look at em once before an they actually dont seem half bad. I dont see how a pod would hinder performance though, but then again there probably more for FI setups. More surface area to suck from.

Sarcasm doesnt work too well on the forums.
Yeah, was talking about the $20 resister chips, or electric superchargers, or magnets on the fuel lines etc etc etc
