Hey was wondering if anyonw knew some possibile casues when turning the ignition key you get all reds but nothing kicking over immediately and then after a few turns of the key and a pump of the accelerated it finally kicks over. Doesnt seem to matter if its hot or cold and recently had the alternator replaced as it drained the battery but pretty sure its not the battery. Gregorys mentions a few possible causes like fuel pump, starter motor, solendoid or vacum leaks etc. I think there is a vacum leak somewhere as it does hiss a little under acceleration but has been doing that for a while now. Any clues? Is it worth trying the starter motor first off? I know fuel pump looks pretty hard to replace?
I think ur best bet would be firstly, get ur battery tested n see if its that, RACV can do that for you, then if thats fine my guess it would be ur starter motor as I had the same problem in my last car, if u can do ur own labor shouldnt cost u more than 200 bucks to replace em both, but with labour probly looking at around 300-350 mark

could be a number of things mate just hapened to my ss so had a quick look notices the ball on the key wasnt touching the strip on the ignition barrel properbly so bent the stip of metal on barrel out a bit and presto starts a treat now and cranks easier worth a thought for you anyway
bought a new battery as seemed to get harder and harder to start over the past few days. Seems to have fixed it as it cant wait to kick over now. There is a few underlying issues like maybe vacuum links of fuel pump/filter but will save for another thread.
Cheers!
