Default Changing carpet in VX aclaim

    Hey guys

My carpet has had a big tear in it since i bought it and so I'd like to change the whole carpet.

Clearly the seats, door jam trims and centre console have to come out as well as the kick panels... Does any of the dash have to come out? And do i have to do anything regarding the side airbags to take the front seats out? Or just unplug them?

Oh and I assume a VY carpet will fit a VX?!

    Any tips appreciated!

    Cheers!

it should... if not it would be prety damn close.

as for the air bags disconnect the battery before you work on it, a air bag blowing up when you face/head next to it is pretty painful.. its even possible to break your neck.

Or disconnect the head from the neck.
Airbags do come out at 300ks/h so disconnecting the battery is a GREAT idea.

Disconnect the battery and do not put your key in the ignition while the airbag is unplugged or you will get a airbag warning light coming on all the time

Well that's what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it's enough to pull the seats out or if have to be disarmed or somethin.

    Any other tips?

OK so i changed the carpet on the weekend, pretty straight forward although everyone in my building carpark was looking at me weird... not sure if thats because i had the whole interior out of my car or cos Metallica was blaring...! haha

Anyway given the above very good advice from 98VTMAN, I failed! I remembered the advice but the key was in the ignition when i disconnected the battery... so i then took it out and left it out for the rest of the time. But the warning light now stays on, and makes that stupid melody when starting up.

The other things i did that may have effected it are - I unbolted the bottom of the seatbelts from the car... wouldn't have though that would effect the pretensioners though...
I also had to unplug.. and later unscrew the airbag sensor that's under the centre console. But i still can't see how that would effect the warning light.

So anyway, how do i fix the light?!!! HELP! It's friggen annoying.
