I recenlty bought a VT SS 5.7. I later found out that it was an ex chaser and was told that they had work done to them when being built. Does anyone know if this is true and if so what work is done to the car?
nothing performance wise if thats what your thinking,im pretty sure just things like sump protector plate,bit of extra wiring for the lights and sirens etc
There were two National Police packs available for VT Series Models; Production Options (P.O.) 9C1 and A8V.
Here's how to read the VT model number on the build plate:
VT 8VK 35-9C1-1PT (Sample Model)
VT = VT Series Model
8VK = Executive (including SS)
35 = Wagon
69 = Sedan
9C1 = Nation police pack (Executive)
824 = Automatic transmission SS pack
825 = Manual transmission SS pack
1PC = Base police pack (Executive)
1PT = Base police pack plus power operated windows (Executive)
8PC = Base police pack (SS)
8PT = Base police pack plus power operated windows (SS)
If i'm thinking yours is the one it is, it will be a Series 2 SS. Should be an auto, however manual was an option for it.
Came with:
Air conditioning
Dome and map reading lamp
Police certified instrument cluster
Sports suspension
Dual air bags (SRS)
Antilock brake system (ABS)
Removed Traction Control from SS Models with P.O. A8V
Spin resistant differential (LSD)
Modified gate automatic transmission control
Heavy duty battery (V8 only) Century 520 CCA
Quick release battery terminals
140 amp Mitsuibishi generator (GEN III V8 only)
Interior lights out function (override switch on I/P facia)
Auxiliary wiring harness (located in engine bay)
25 mm cable hole and plug (LHS cockpit module)
Dual horns
Cruise Control
Power windows
Sump Guard
Alloy wheels – 8.0 J x 17
235 / 45 x 17 R-ST-TL
Automatic transmission oil cooler (V8 only)
Yours being a Gen 3 also had a different MEMCAL fitted. Not sure if you've still got it though, basically the way to tell is if your vehicle idles at 850RPM instead of 650RPM. There is only tiny adjustments in it though, nothing big to get awesome performance.
Hi Guys, The drivers seat in my VT exec is starting to collapse. The outside edge is pretty ordinary. So im going to buy another from the wreckers, but am thinking now about replacing both front seats with leather ones out of a wh stato. Is the passenger side easy enough to connect up or doesn't the exec have the wiring loom on the passenger side?
Thanks Dave
sorry guys i posted on the wrong page
tried searching for VR police pack model numbers
anybody got same info as per VT details above
much appreciated
I'll post the info for him.
Take one white VR Exec. Thrash it for the first year of its life, drive over gutters at speed, whack into gutters, R-1st'ies, then sell to joe public.
To summarise, you have the same car as every other VR on the road, theirs is just in better condition.
