my vt 5.7 is leaking oil from the side of the block near where tranny bolts on passanger side. theres 4 bolts 2 with bolt heads and 2 with allen key heads in a straight line, what are the bolts for? could it be leaking from there. we degreased engine but still seems from those bolts.
Could be a number of things...
Leaking inlet manifold gasket...
Leaking crank angle sensor...located at rear of engine.
Leaking oil pressure switch located close to crank sensor.
Could be rear main or sump gasket leaking...
Leaking rocker cover gaskets.
Your best option would be to remove the the top engine coaver and lower stone guard and give the engine a good wash, also trying to avoid heavy wetting of the electrical components eg ignition coils.
Then drive around for a week and observe where the oil is leaking from.
