VT Sluggish + ECU Help?!

Hey guys,
My VT has always been a little sluggish response wise on the accelerator and around 1st gear.
Any ideas on what i should try that would help fix this?

Also if anyone knows how to test the ECU chip for error codes on a VT Berlina Series 1?

And how to reset ECU chip and what that will do & what i will need (ie. need radio security code but what else).
