    Default Strut top bearing Plates

    Hey Guys.

I Have to replace my Strut Bearings & Plate on the Front Right. Question, Do i need to remove the whole strut ? real hard to do? And should i replace both at the same time?, or is it ok just to do the one thats stuffed?. I dont have much cash so just seeing if i can just do one. Sounds like im hitting metal plates when i run over large bumps. Steering and everything is fine, no knocking or anything so im quite sure thats the problem. Oh And do i need spring compressors ?

personally ive never seen the bearing plates shat themselves on the newer model commos. (vt-vy)
have you checked you sway bar links/rubbers?? they allways bugger up on commos. also, the struts do have there problems.

if it is the bearing plate, im pretty sure you have to remove the strut, compress the springs and take it apart. (havent done one in a while).

Yeah i have checked all my rubbers and everything seems in good order. Its on very particular bumps, Seems most worse when its a slight dip then springs back up. when i hear the noise, only does it every now and then. And im worried about my strut going through my bonnet at 100kms The Sound it like 2 solid metal plates banging together.

Does it happen more at slow speeds? I just remembered i had this problem, i just havn't noticed it lately because i dont go down those roads with those bumps anymore.

Does it happen when you run over cat eyes? Or just bumps?

jack up the front of your car, and stick a solid bar under the front wheel and give it abit of a rip up and down and see if there is any movement in the ball joints/strut area.

Hey Guys, I took of my rim this morning, and found this very loose, On both side of the car, Let me guess tighten it up? or is it suppose to be like that, Not sure with suspension lol Guessing is cause of the mounts have squished over time and need replacing.

If that is your swaybar link, then yes it should be tight enough to not allow any sloppy movement.

They need to be balanced in length on either side to not cause any stationary twisting.
