    Default Am i crazy?

Hey guys got a tricky one for ya.... kinda.

My VT Berlina has a relatively rough idle, not too bad but low enough to be annoying, around 4-500 rpm. ive just cleaned my TB, Idle Speed Control thingo etc hoping it would fix it up a little but no improvements on idle, just a bit more responsive.. also just replaced plugs and leads and no deal..

Am i crazy and is 4-500 normal or could it be in need of a little tune or somethin?
    Thanks for tickling my curiosity!!

have you checked your coils and dfi? they could be on their way out, also does it fire up straight away when u start it or is it slow?

yeah pretty positive the leads are plugged into the spark plugs right, the heat shields can be wriggled around a little which made me worry at first but a good yank on the end doesnt bring it off the plug and they seem tight!!!!!

Is it rough (like spluttering or missing) or just low.

nah not rough, like i said nothing really BAD, just annoying, cuising some dash vibrations and stuff (which could be due to it being pulled out before i bought the car to cram a dvd player in), but just thought 500 may be a bit low and a couple of hundred higher the vibrations etc stop haha

Oh and sorryn no not missing or spluttering. how can i tell if my engine mounts are worn?

Is that with it in gear or when its parked?

500 RPM sounds about right when in gear and it should be at about 800 RPM when in Park.
What happens when you turn on the A/C?
If it doesn't correct itself I would be leaning towards the IAC (Idle air control) valve which is mounted to the throttle body

If it is causing the vibration then it could be possibly the engine and transmission mounts are stuffed or you could have a torque converter on its way out or loose.

500 sounds low to me, normal idle is closer to 700. It should be printed on the orange sticker on the radiator shroud.

It's not manually adjustable, if it's not idling right it's probably got a problem somewhere.
