    Question Muscles too big?

Hey guys just wondering if you can give me some info,

During my recent endeavour to clean my throttle body i obviously removed the engine cover off my Ecotec, the job went fine but when putting the engine cover back on i got a bit carried away with the two nuts on the front half of the cover and snapped both the studs due to overtightening! the engine cover at the moment is held on just with the back two which seems stable enough.. ish.

In the future i would like to replace these studs, but the come out of the plenum cover dont they? haha, to put it simply i would just like to know if im able to replace the studs or if il have to get a whole new plenum cover? or if i should just be gone with engine cover and polish up the top of my plenum??

    CHEEERS!

Either get a new plenum cover, you should be able to get them for dirt from any wrecker. Seeing as how I see them throwing out Ecotec engines like crazy. Or else just leave the cover off. I painted the top of my plenum black for the hell of it. I'm continuously working on my car and it just gets in my way. Besides whats the point of the engine cover? I don't exactly go around showing off my really awesome engine cover.

    Hahaha good call acarmody.

Painting the plenum cover, obviously a heat proof or engine enamel is a must, iv looked at some of these and on the can they say "black", iv always wondered if this would be gloss black.. is it possible for paint on a constantly hot/cold surface to stay glossy? just curious as gloss black would be the colour of choice for me.

    thanks

Oh and also, ever had issues with water getting on your alternator etc without and engine cover?

I didn't use a gloss black but I'm sure its available, I'm positive its available somewhere. Also if you have a crap load of time spare, think about chroming it.

Never had a problem with water. The only way for water to hit the alternator would be from underneath the car and flicked up, or through the front grille, in neither situation would the engine cover protect it anyway, so I don't think it would be a problem.

If you got a bit of time, then pull the top plate off the alternator and paint that too. Will look mint.

About the only one I could find, engine out for a rebuild, dirty as. If you feel up to it, paint the whole plenum chamber looks much better. I did mine because I was bored one day.
