    Default key or computer?

hey all, i ve tried searching and nothing came up...but recently my key has started to not lock/unlock the car when trying to use the buttons (central locking). Qas just wondering if theres a way to tell if its the computer or the key thats not working? The keys probably just over a year old never been dropped in any liquids or stood on or anything! and its annoying me to the max.

car turns over fine, and the windows all work once the car has started

in the manual it says that if you notice the key is working over less distance then normal its time to replace your key, does it release the boot straight away?

no it doesnt it its gotten to the point that it will only work on the rare occasion thats central locking and boot release. the key is only about a year old...it can't be dead already can it?

I am having a similar problem with mine, some times it works from far away and other times it doesn't but if hold the remote near the front windscreen it always works and it's a new key so I am assuming it is a problem with the sensor, which is in the middle of the dash near the windscreen. Next time yours doesn't work, hold it near the windscreen and see what happens.

Pac3y, remote keys are like lightbulbs...no consistency on life expectancy. A year old could have been used consistently every day as opposed to a few times a week. One year is very short though, if you can produce an invoice to your local Holden dealer with the date of purchase you might be good for a warranty claim.

i took my key to a locksmith when i needed a new one and he tested the voltage and said for the kind of battery in it, the output was too low, luckily it was enough he got the code from it but maybe you can do the same?

mine is doing the exact same thing...i've been told that it cant be the battery as the key still starts the car. im yet to remove the receiver and inspect for damage (as the problem started after getting the windscreen replaced)
