Default VT - fan staying on after engine off - battery drain

    Hi folks,

Purchased a VT last week and it had been going absolutely fine - until yesterday when I tried to unlock the car and the remote didn't work. Once I unlocked the car I realised battery was completely dead. Quick jump start got me going and car started again today - drove it all day.

Got battery tested, no problems with it. Tonight when I got home and turned the ignition off, it sounded like the engine was still running. Popped the bonnet, fan at the front (drivers side) was still going. Initially I thought it was just cooling as it was quite a hot day and I had air con blasted, however 20 min later it's still doing it.

Eventually stopped, but battery dead again - so obviously this is what happened yesterday as well.

Bearing in mind it was pitch black tonight so I couldn't really do much investigation - has anyone come across this before and if so, can you offer any advice??? I'll be jump starting it tomorrow morning and taking it straight back to the dealer but just want to know if there's any clues?

    Cheers.

could the relays (in the little black box clipped next to the radiator shroud) be screwed? they would be my first guess

i had mine changed quite awhile ago. even the guy at holden spareparts knew the problem. he told me the relay had been updated to a new type as it was a known issue with the old type.

just can't remember exactly which relay now. my mechanic was too busy that day when i pull in to show him the problem and he just told me to go holden and get that relay. replaced it myself and save me a few bucks on labour

edit: i believe the relays are labelled. if not look up your user manual.
