Question need a gearbox....

Hey All. Well, the time has come for a new gearbox. The old one lost second gear the other day at the lights. That, along with various other problems its had for a while, make me think its time for a newie. While driving an auto like a manual is fun, it gets tedious after a while.

So I'm in the market for a rebuilt auto for my VT V6. I went and saw my mate who recommended "Performance Automatic Transmissions" in Frankston. They gave me a quote for $1800 for a rebuilt auto, fitted. Rang up the next day to get a few more details, and discovered that the $1800 price was without GST. So $1980 all up :b:

And they (permanently) fix the problem of the box slipping back to 3rd, and not going back to 4th.

Anyway, my questions are:
has anyone had any good / bad dealings with these guys?
is that a good / decent / crappy price for a reco auto fitted?
is there somewhere in Melbourne / on the Mornington Peninsula that people would recommend?

Thanks
