Hi guys
Sorry, another basic VT Commodore question! Still learning the idiosyncrasies of my new car. I'm such a noob!
I've had a couple of cooling system dramas (split radiator/burst top hose) and have been keeping an eye on the heater gauge. Does anyone know where the needle should sit on the heater gauge? With my car, once it gets up to temp it sits below the middle notch, just over the half way mark between the 1st and the middle notch (make sense?)
I hope its right. My VP always travelled on the first notch then went up to halfway in hot weather/bumper to bumper traffic.
Any news would be welcome.

That sounds about normal. Just for future reference it is called a temperature gauge.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Temperature gauge! I think maybe next time I will post new threads when I wake up a bit! Heater gauge indeed! Thanks accentstencil!
Ok, well that sounds good then. Let's hope it stays there. Could I ask, is there much fluctuation when its a hot day/stuck in traffic? Why is ask is that I also own a Mitsubishi Magna and whether its 43 degress, stuck in traffic, etc, it always sits halfway. What can I expect?
Well mine stays the same regardless of the outside temperature.

Oh ok. They must've used a different temperature sensor from the VP to the VT. I must say, from the small amount of driving Ive done in the new car, it doesn't move, it just sits in the one position. Mind you, haven't really driven it on stinking hot days or bumper to bumper traffic yet. My VP tho, sits on the first notch most of the time but then if you are stuck in traffic goes up to half before the fan kicks in and cools it down.
Thanks for your help
Mine climbs to the same spot, between 1/4 and 1/2 and sits there regardless of -2 or +46 degrees. I guess this is what it should do if the thermosat and fans are doing their job.
Yeah once mine warms up it's a bit below half. Seems normal for the VT.
