VT Aircon, Heater problem

My aircon works, it blows out cold air but its stuck to the front windscreen vents, i've just replaced the heater control unit thinking that would fix it, because my old one was broken and it would just spin round freely as if it wasnt grabbing to change it from blowing on your face / feet / recycle/ etc. The new one does click now when you turn it but it hasn't fixed my problem! No matter what i do even with the aircon off its stuck on blowing air to the windscreen..
So what would fix this?

although you have a manual air con system as opposed to the climate control discussed in this thread, but the problem is similar as they work off the same vacuum system apparently:

i was told by other members there are many other threads on this subject but i'm still looking myself....

the hose came off the back of the manifold, all fixed now thanks.
