    Default VT V6 head bolts

Hello all, can anyone advise if I need to replace the cyl head bolts on a VT with 180k on that has been overheated?
The heads are off and have been machined ready to go back on, gasket packet says replace head bolts? any clues?

from wat i have read so far it seems holden uses single 'use' bolts. must be cheaper or something.. and i think if u use the old ones u run the risk of breaking the bolt off in your block when u torque them up to spec... i have to get ls1 head gaskets n bolts myself for a cam n lifter install.. im acctually searching the forums now to see if i could find how much gm gaskets and bolts are.. otherwise arp bolts seem to get used a fair bit by everyone-so i have noticed.. think there bit dearer though.. gud luck with it..

replace them...why ? because one person pointed out there use once deal...
    secondly...heads that warp...and do so from overheat.....do 2 things
    1) warp the head surface
    2) damage the thread on the bolt or in the head.

when they do damage the head sometimes that means you need to halicoil the thread on the block..
    or brass bush sleeve them...
means they have pulled part of the head thread out when removed and now you need to put metal back..
the only way is drill the hole to the closest size and use helicoils...or drill bigger if you can and thread brass into the head....like little cyclnders...then rethread to standard head bolts...

allot of places wont helicoil or brass thread...cause they are lazy!
so check your thread on the bolts....you pulled out
and dry run thread the old bolts back in the heads..using clean oil...and make sure
they thread perfect...and easy.... and remove any dirt of crap from inside them..
machine shops sometimes forget..to do so...
now knowing yours are clean and good ...go to holden and get new ones..fit them..then throw the others in the bin..

these are known as flex bolts. as the name says they flex. you will never be able to torque the old bolts EVER. for the sake of $60, throw them in the bin.

I would change them. Cheaper to put new bolts in, then have to take the heads off later.
