Default Dash Facia from WH Statesman into my VT SS ?

    Hey all,

Having recently replaced the factory stereo with a DVD head unit, i miss having a decent clock in my car. Without having to resort to sticking a cheapie on the dash (like those LED clocks) i was thinking the following:

The WH statesman dash has a nice looking clock built into it. Looks very classy.

Does anyone know if i can pick up a WH facia and be able to fit it into my VT Series II SS?

So far what ive noticed is the trip computer buttons on the stato are more rounded than the SS. So i guess ill have to pick up one of those as well (assuming that the mod can be done).

Let me know what you guys think ?

You would be able to fit a WH dash fascia into your car but you would also need the woodgrain bits because apart from the holes for the clock and mode switches being different the whole design is different.
Here's one on ebay:HOLDEN WH STATESMAN CAPRICE DASH FACIA BARE - eBay Dash Parts, Interior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 10-Mar-10 17:02:56 AEDST)

I have a VX Berlina and I have changed my dash over to a WH Caprice dash. It is an easy mod to do as the trip computer, hazard lights, head lights and fog lights switches all connect to the existing harness from your old dash. You will need the different trip computer as you suspected. You will also need to wire up the clock as your existing wiring harness will not have a plug for it. Not a major job if you know what you are doing, or you could take it to an auto sparky to do it.

As for the physical installation, once you have the two pieces (grey plastic and woodgrain) it is very very simple to install.

Have a look at the photo's in my ride (link is in my signature) and you will see a photo of the dash installed in my car.

Im doing the same mod to my VXII Acclaim ATM. THe dash will fit straight in, IF YOU HAVE CLIMATE CONTROL. if not, you will have to cut up the upper dash wood grain trim, because the knobs from standard aircon wont fit. Other then that, its a straight swap over.

Also, you NEED the lower cover from around the gear selector, since the WH one is bulkier.
