    Default power steering problem

    gday,
im thinking of buying a vt with 130 000kms, rego till may good condition for 3700 etc but the power steering isnt working at all. its extremely difficult to turn at low speeds to a point of frustration. what could the problem be and how much would it cost to fix?.
im thinking the fluid is gone or the pump is leaking but im not very experienced in that area

if this problem turns out to be to do with the rack, or has ruined it in the progress, you can pick up a reco rack for $300 - $400.
If you are keen to diy, you can get a pump seal kit for around $10, unless the whole pump is shagged (bearings etc._

Holmart have pumps reco with no change over for about $90. I seem to recall seeing brand new racks for not much nmore than a reco one. I'd make sure the system had enough fluid and replace the pump first making sure it was flushed first to remove any contamination etc.
