Hello all!
The fuel gauge in my VU series 2 SS ute reads empty all the time even when the tank is full. A couple of months ago a scan tool used to check how the engine was running. By a friend....
Somehow?? all the gauges failed to work after the scan tool was removed. The speedo, fuel gauge, tacho & engine temp gauge did not work at all. Another scan tool was plugged in and I got the engine temp, tacho & speedo working. However the speedo would read full deflection to 220km/h when I was actually travelling at about 40km/h.
Then another scan tool with "holden software" was plugged in and all gauges worked correctly except for the fuel gauge,, which showed empty and the fuel warning light would always be on and the airbag warning light would always be on.
A mechanic managed to reset the airbag light and fix that. But they could not fix the fuel gauge. Telling me that they reckon the fuel sender was stuffed.
When I was returning the car back to person who created this mess, the ute broke down, requiring a tow truck ride back to the nearest Holden dealer. Where they have now informed me that the fuel pump is stuffed and some ECU relay has burnt out.
The cost to repair is over $900.00!! --- Is it possible that when the modules in the car were interrogated by the scan tool, that some setting/s where changed stuffing the whole thing up?
I find it to much of a co-incidence that the fuel gauge sender/fuel pump unit fails after a scan tool was used on the car. Has anybody had this or similar experience, as I believe I'm paying for a new pump when the fault is within a module somewhere... NOT HAPPY JAN!!
