VU SS Ute gauge cluster

The Holden dealer now tells me that when a fuel sender/fuel pump unit fails it also takes out the instrument cluster. So on top of the new fuel pump and other repairs for a burnt out module at $900.00 I now need a new instrument cluster which will cost $600.00 to repair. The only new cluster is in Perth the car is in Sydney.

Has anyone else heard of the instrument cluster failing or being damaged because the fuel sender/pump has failed?? Or I'm being taken for a ride here?

Sounds like the "mate" has killed the cluster. Second hand unit fron the wreckers will cost you around $150 to $250 depending on the K's - dont buy a new one unless you really have too.

Most of the good wreckers are hooked up to a hot like - give the yellow pages a go and see what you come up with - bet it's way way less than $600.
